LAMP Ministries is a Catholic lay
missionary association, comprised of people
who serve among the materially poor, with a
focus on evangelization. LAMP’s call has drawn us into the beating Heart of Jesus as that Heart of Compassion embracing those most in need, with our Blessed Mother’s Heart united to His. |

Are you called to
the mission of Lamp? |

The Eucharist |

The Eucharist is
central to LAMP's spirituality. The mission of the Church is a continuity of the mission of Christ and draws spiritual energy from communion with
His Body and Blood. |

Although you may
not be able to visit a materially poor person or
family in a crowded shelter or walk-up apartment
in the New York City Metropolitan area, you can
help to make it possible for a LAMP Missionary
to do so. |

"You,
Lord, give light to my lamp; my God, You brighten the
darkness about me."

He has chosen me to bring good news to the
poor." -Lk. 4:18

When our Holy
Father, Pope John Paul II, visited North
America in January 1999, he exhorted all
Catholics to "have the courage to bear
witness to the Gospel in the streets and
squares". The vision of LAMP, founded in
and by the love of Christ Jesus, impels LAMP
Ministers to literally reach out to the poor
on the streets; to those who need to know
the Lord has not forgotten them, and that
the local Catholic parish wants to be of
service to them. Pictured here are a number
of the LAMP Ministers reaching out on the
streets where they serve. |

Carol Talano
brings sandwiches and words of God's love to
immigrants in need of a job who stand on a
Brooklyn corner waiting to be chosen for
work that day. |
Steve Horka reaches out with the Lord's
compassion and prayers for those who come to
the LAMPCafé, our mobile evangelization/food
outreach for the hungry and homeless in the
South Bronx. |

Ed Greene
visits with a man who is interested in the
Catholic materials he has displayed in front
of the local parish across 42nd St. from
Port Authority in Manhattan.
